Getting Started: BI

Has your child received a diagnosis?

Has the individual in need recently received a diagnosis that qualifies him or her for long-term services through the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS)?

If you want to pursue services through DDS, you can approach your local DDS office (also known as a Regional Center). To find your local Regional Center, click here. Your local Regional Center will do an intake to determine eligibility. Once the individual needing services is made a client of the Regional Center, he or she will be given a Service Coordinator who will help explain how the Regional Center can support your family as you work to help the individual in need.

Are you a parent facing behavioral challenges with your child or adolescent? You can ask your Service Coordinator for Behavior Intervention services (often times called Behavior Management Services or Parent Training Services).

Some of the Behaviors we address include:

  • Physical/Cognitive Developmental Delays
  • Abnormal Eating Habits
  • Toilet Training
  • Tantrums
  • Physical/Verbal Aggression
  • Non-compliance
  • Self-help Skills
  • Socially Inappropriate Behaviors
  • Anxieties/Fears
  • Problem Solving Deficits
  • Attention Deficits
  • Hyperactivity
  • Difficulties with Daily Activities
  • Social Skill Deficits

Many Regional Centers have initial classes that you must take prior to receiving Behavior Intervention services. Once you complete your Regional Center’s requirements, they can refer you to an agency like ours.

Following the referral, a member of the Keany Associates team will go to your home to complete an initial assessment. After meeting with you and your child, a report is generated outlining a recommended course of treatment including goals and the suggested number of sessions per week.

Directed by Sam Bakhoum, MS, our Behavior Intervention Program works closely with parents and the treatment team to maximize your child's potential developmental growth. To learn more about the Keany Associates’ Behavior Intervention Program, click here.
