Behavior Intervention
The Keany Associates Behavior Intervention services take place in natural settings, including homes, schools, and the community, helping to maximize the child’s progress and potential in real-world situations. Keany Associates is part of the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and the California Department of Education and provides intervention services across the greater Los Angeles area. At Keany Associates, our Behavior Intervention program is based on current best practices in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), with the enhancement of treatment from relationship and play-based theories, including Stanley Greenspan’s Floortime Model. In our Behavior Intervention (BI) program design, the developmentally-appropriate services are meant to be provided in each individual’s natural environment with a staff to client ratio of 1:1. To promote one’s overall development, the team at Keany Associates will follow a multidisciplinary, team-based approach. In this approach, we will work closely with the individual’s caregivers and other service providers to ensure generalization of specific strategies and techniques from one session to the next.
Our agency follows a family-centered philosophy, supporting interactions between the caregivers and the client to promote optimal development. We provide families and caregivers with the tools needed to assist the individual in maximizing his/her developmental potential through activities. Families and caregivers are expected to be both active participants and observers during the intervention sessions.
The team at Keany Associates will model a variety of strategies and techniques for the families/caregivers to use with the individual throughout their daily routine. Our behaviorists have formal training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Floortime, American Sign Language (ASL), sensory integration techniques, and are all Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certified. These techniques are used fluidly, to assist the family members with helping the client grow. Our intervention is focused on overcoming problem behaviors, while capitalizing on behavioral strengths.
We look forward to working with you. For more information about our Behavior Intervention services, please contact our Clinical Director, Jon Roos, MA, MFT, BCBA.
